Beit Hashita ("the home of the
Acacia tree") is located at the foot of Mount Gilboa in the Jezreel
Valley. Beit Hashita is one of Israel's largest agricultural settlements,
comprising over 10,000 acres of fertile land. It is also home to two
major factories, the
Gilboa
Beit Hashita Olive processing plant
and BHC plant, where agricultural
implements and parts are produced. The kibbutz also houses several other
specialized industries.
The kibbutz is comprised of over 1300 people, including 600 members, 400 children and a varying number of volunteer workers, residents, new immigrants and participants in youth programs such as the American Class. Members of the kibbutz live, work and celebrate together. There are residential, commercial, educational, agricultural and recreational areas where people live, shop, learn, work and relax with each other. During their stay at Beit Hashita, American Class students are completely integrated into kibbutz life and society.
