Ms. Annette Apple
Bible Literature
Ms. Apple received her teaching certificate in Education at
Midrasha College in Detroit in Judaic Studies. She has taught
for a number of years at the elementary and junior high
levels and has extensive experience in informal education
with high school students. Ms. Apple has been teaching Bible
Literature to the AMerican Class in Beit-Hashita for two
years.
Ms. Fern Berl
Global History & U.S. History
Ms. Berl graduated honors from Brooklyn College of C.U.N.Y.
with a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Secondary Education and
Social Studies. Ms. Berl holds a teaching license from N.Y.C.
and N.Y. State. She has taught for a number of years at the
elementary and junior high levels and she had extensive
experience in informal education with high school students.
She has been teaching history to the American Class in
Beit-Hashita for six years.
Dr. Mordechai Cohen
Pre-Calculus & Physics
Dr. Cohen received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Physics
from Glasgow University, Scotland. He went on to study for a
B.A. and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from London University. He
holds a teaching diploma from Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Dr. Cohen has taught physics and mathematics in a number of
contexts including three years of teaching 11th grade
American high school students at Tichon Ramah, Jerusalem. He
has been teaching physics and pre-calculus to the American
Class in Beit-Hashita for six years.
Ms. Chana Dori
Hebrew
Ms. Dori received her B.A. from the Teacher's Seminar at
Oranim, Haifa. She has 12 years teaching experience at the
elementary level. While residing in the U.S., Ms. Dori taught
Hebrew to English-speaking adults. She has been teaching
Hebrew to the American Class for six years.
Ms. Esther Goldberg
Biology & Geometry
Ms. Esther Goldberg is a graduate of Columbia University,
with a Master's degree in Biology. Her Bachelor degree is
from Yeshiva University Stern College, where she majored in
Biology and graduated with Honors. Ms. Goldberg has taught a
wide range of high school science and math courses, including
Biolog, Chemistry, Environmental Science, AP Biology and
Geometry for the past six years. She has been teaching
Biology and Geometry to the American Class at Beit-Hashita
for two years.
Mr. Tuviah Gross
Chemistry & Algebra II
Mr. Gross attended Yeshiva University with a degree in
Physics and Talmud. He then attended Brooklyn College where
he received his degree in Geology. He also attended the New
Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology where he received
his degree in Hydrology. Mr. Gross' teaching experience
includes the Brooklyn Talmudic Academy, where he taught
Physics at the high school level, the Kansas City Community
high school, where he taught Bible, Jewish history and
Judaica. He has been teaching Chemistry to the American Class
at Beit-Hashita for seven years, and Algebra II for four
years.
Ms. Judy Hen
English Language
Ms. Hen received her B.A. in English Literature from Queens
College of C.U.N.Y. and her M.A. in Education from New York
University. She holds a permanent teaching license for the
New York City Public Schools and has experience as an
elementary teacher as well. Ms. Hen received her 2nd M.A.
degree in English Literature at Tel-Aviv University. She has
taught English as a second language on the high school level
in Israel for 14 years and has been teaching in the American
Class at Beit-Hashita for the past 11 years. Ms. Hen is now
working on her Ph.D. at the University of Haifa, where she is
a teaching fellow.
Ms. Aliza Karaban
Ms. Karaban graduated from Tel-Aviv University with a B.A. in
Theater Studies and Social Anthropology. She did graduate
work in Haifa University in Biblio Therapy. She received her
M.A. in Educational Counseling from Haifa University. Ms.
Karaban has taught Drama for a number of years in elementary
and junior high schools. She has been involved in a number of
theater productions with the municipality of Jerusalem. At
the present, she serves as a school counselor and Drama
Therapist at the oncology dept. of Rambam Hospital. Ms.
Karaban has been teaching at the American Class at
Beit-Hashita for the past four years.
Mr. Schlomo Lendner
Hebrew
Mr. Lendner graduated from the Hebrew University with a B.A.
in History of the Islam. He holds a teaching license from the
State of Israel (the Ministry of Education) in literature,
Bible and history. Mr. Lendner has taught Hebrew to teen
newcomers to Israel for the past six years.
Mr. Amichai Yarchi
Israel Geography & History
Mr. Yarchi is the director of the America-Israel High School
at Beit-Hashita. Prior to holding the directorship, Mr.
Yarchi served as high school principal of Beit-Hashita. Mr.
Yarchi completed his studies in Israel Geography and History
at Haifa University, where he graduated with Honors. He has
over 15 years experience as a high school teacher. Mr. yarchi
spent three years in Washington D.C. as an Israeli Shaliach
(Emissary). Upon his return he founded the America-Israel
High School Program. He was honored as an Outstanding and
Inspiring High School Teacher by the University of
Chicago.
